Spiritual Changes
While wandering in this world below
My soul doth many changes know.
Lord, wilt Thou lead me, for I’m blind,
That I the way to life might find.
Lord, when I sleep, wilt Thou awake,
My soul from slumber do Thou take;
And when I’m slack, grant me concern,
That from my languor I may turn.
If in my heart I coldness feel,
Come with Thy Spirit, give me zeal;
When I with hardness am possessed,
Grant meltings, Lord, within my breast.
When deadness my soul doth permeate,
Then spirit and life in me create;
If enmity my heart doth fill,
Within my heart Thy love instill.
When pride within me has the throne,
Grant humbleness which is Thy own;
When unbelief itself doth raise,
Give faith and hope which in Thee lays.
And if rebellion fills my heart,
Submission unto me impart;
Let not the power of sin prevail,
Nor let the tempter’s powers assail.
In all these things, Lord, let us be
More than conquerors through Thee,
Who conquered all opposing power
Our soul and body would devour.
In Jesus’ merits all things lie,
Without His blood we all must die.
He lived, yet died without reprieve,
That we all blessings might receive.
