REV. J. VAN VLIET

With sorrow we announce the loss of another minister from our congregations in the Netherlands. Rev. J. Van Vliet passed away suddenly at the age of 63 while preaching his inaugural sermon in Kapelle-Biezelinge. During his life, he served the congregations of Aagtekerke (1967-1981) and Veen (1981-1985). May the Lord remember his mourning family, and fill the empty place left behind with His own presence.

MISSION BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING NIGERIA

When the Lord Jesus left this earth, He gave to the church the important commission; Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

As Mission Board we were privileged to take some positive steps in the forming of a mission team to send to an open field in Nigeria, Africa. We realize that what we are looking at, at this moment, is only a small beginning. What we lack in completing of such a team is an evangelist, a person who may explain the Lord’s work in his personal life and the Lord’s calling to bring His Word upon the mission field where that Word is not known. Such a calling must be examined by the members of the Mission Board together with the deputies of the Curatorium.

May the Lord raise up among us men with such a calling. May His blessing rest upon this announcement so that we may be gladdened by His deeds.

On behalf of the Mission Board.

Rev. A.M. den Boer, President

John Den Hoed, Clerk

SHEBOYGAN, WISCONSIN

Our congratulations are extended to the Sheboygan, Wisconsin congregation, which commemorated their 75th anniversary on April 11. The guest speaker, Rev. J. Spaans, addressed the congregation and gathered friends from near and far.

May the Lord richly provide for the unknown future as faithfully as He has in the past, granting the Sheboygan congregation to experience that Jesus Christ is the same “yesterday, and today, and forever” (Heb. 13:8).
